Manitoba invites skilled workers in the latest MPNP draw, i.e., Manitoba has held another immigration draw under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), inviting skilled workers through strategic recruitment initiatives.
The draw took place on May 21 and became Manitoba’s 10th immigration selection round of 2026.
This was also the province’s third-largest draw of the year so far.
The latest round focused on candidates invited through Manitoba’s strategic recruitment efforts, including those connected to the province’s temporary public policy for work permits.
Draw Details
Manitoba issued a total of 96 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) during the latest draw.
Invitations were sent to candidates under the following pathways:
- Skilled Worker in Manitoba
- Skilled Worker Overseas
To qualify for consideration, candidates needed to declare in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile that they had received an invitation under:
- A Manitoba recruitment mission; or
- The Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP).
The province issued the largest number of invitations to candidates connected to the Temporary Public Policy program.
According to Manitoba, 50% of all LAAs in this draw went to TPP-related candidates.
Here’s how the LAAs were distributed, by strategic recruitment initiative:
| Strategic Recruitment Initiative | LAAs Issued |
| Employer Services | 31 |
| Ethnocultural Communities | 9 |
| Francophone Community | 4 |
| Regional Communities | 4 |
| Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP) | 48 |
Manitoba Continues Prioritizing TPP Candidates
The latest draw follows an announcement made by Manitoba on May 1, 2026.
At that time, the province confirmed plans to focus future draws on candidates who had received Manitoba-specific work permits under the Temporary Public Policy.
Although the TPP has now expired, Manitoba continues prioritizing many workers who benefited from the program earlier.
The previous draw on May 7 also heavily targeted TPP candidates.
During that round, 429 out of 906 invitations were issued to workers connected to the TPP initiative.
The May 21 draw shows Manitoba is continuing that strategy.
Express Entry Candidates Also Received Invitations
Out of the 96 invitations issued in the latest draw, 20 went to candidates who had:
- A valid Express Entry profile number; and
- A valid job seeker validation code.
These candidates may later benefit from enhanced provincial nomination opportunities connected to Canada’s Express Entry system.
An enhanced nomination through Express Entry can provide applicants with additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly improving their chances of receiving permanent residence invitations from the federal government.
Why Some Eligible Candidates Did Not Receive Invitations?
Manitoba also explained why some candidates who appeared to meet the draw requirements may still not have received an LAA.
According to the province, some applications had issues related to language test details or invitation numbers.
The province listed two common reasons:
- Candidates claimed to have completed an approved English or French test but did not include a valid test number, or their test results had expired; or
- Candidates said they received a strategic recruitment invitation but failed to submit a valid invitation number.
Manitoba also noted that some TPP-related candidates may not yet have received invitations because of the timing of their Manitoba Support Letter approvals.
Applicants whose support letters were approved after June 30, 2025 may still be waiting for future draws.
The province says it is currently prioritizing candidates whose support letters were approved before that date.
