British Columbia PNP gets a second nomination boost in 2025, i.e., the federal government has approved another increase in nominations for British Columbia in 2025. The province has received 960 additional provincial nomination spaces, some of which will be used to help waitlisted International Post-Graduate (IPG) applicants.

With this increase, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) now has a total of 6,214 nomination spaces for 2025. This is up from 5,254, which was the total after the province’s first increase earlier this year.

British Columbia shared news of this update on its provincial immigration news webpage on December 15, 2025.

Who Will Gain From This Added Nomination Space?

British Columbia has said that the new nominations will be used for priority applicants who help meet the province’s labour market needs. These include:

  • Healthcare professionals
  • Entrepreneurs
  • High economic impact candidates

In addition, the BC PNP confirmed that some of the new nomination spaces will be used to process waitlisted IPG applications that were submitted in 2024.

Note: The BC PNP describes “high economic impact candidates” as people who are most likely to support the province’s economy. This is based on factors such as education level, job type, and wage offered.

These priorities are the same as those announced during the first nomination increase of 2025. At that time, British Columbia’s nomination spaces rose from 4,000 to 5,254.

In the October update, the province said it had 2,240 IPG applications on its waitlist. With the latest increase, British Columbia plans to complete some of these pending cases.

After receiving the extra 960 spaces, the province has now recovered about 77% of its 2024 nomination allocation, which was set at 8,000 spaces.

British Columbia plans to use all of its nomination spaces by the end of the year. The province has also said it will share its immigration priorities for 2026 at a later date.

Number Of Invitations Issued By British Columbia In 2025

In line with its priorities, British Columbia has mainly invited entrepreneurs and high economic impact candidates in 2025.

Most invitations were issued through the Skills Immigration category, but the province held more draws for entrepreneurs overall.

So far in 2025, the province has held

  • 14 draws through its Entrepreneur Immigration category through two streams.
  • Base stream: eight draws, totaling no more than 80 invitations.
  • Regional stream: six draws, totaling no more than 30 invitations.
  • Three draws through its Skills Immigration category, totalling 978 invitations to individuals with jobs falling under select NOC TEERS or who met an established minimum score.

The province has not shared how many waitlisted IPG applications are now back in processing.

Note: Under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, each job is placed in a TEER level from 0 to 5, based on training, education, experience, and duties. TEER 0 is the highest skill level, while TEER 5 is the lowest.
