Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 3,500 tradespeople to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry.
To qualify for an invitation in this draw, candidates needed to meet the minimum work experience requirements for the Trades category. They also needed to have:
- A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 476; and
- Created an Express Entry candidate profile before 12:47:55 Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on October 1, 2026.
For candidates who had a CRS score of 476, the tie-breaking rule required them to have created their Express Entry profile on or before May 28, 2026, at 16:55:23 UTC.
Work Permit Options For Express Entry Candidates
Foreign nationals living in Canada who have applied for permanent residence through Express Entry may qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP).
A BOWP can allow eligible applicants to continue working in Canada while they wait for a decision on their permanent residence application.
If their current work permit expires before a decision is made on the BOWP application, maintained status may allow them to continue working under the same conditions. To benefit from maintained status, they must continue to live in Canada.
Eligible family members may also qualify for an open work permit.
