Newfoundland and Labrador invites candidates under PNP and AIP, i.e., Newfoundland and Labrador extended 217 invitations to apply for provincial immigration on September 26.

The invitations were issued to candidates through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), reflecting the province’s ongoing efforts to attract skilled talent to support its labour market needs.

September 26 Draw Highlights

The Newfoundland and Labrador Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism issued the following invitations to apply on September 26:

Program Number Of Invitations Issued
NLPNP 107
AIP 110

Since transitioning to an Expression of Interest (EOI) system for both programs in February, the province has maintained consistent draws.

Interestingly, this latest draw marked the first time AIP invitations surpassed NLPNP invitations, signaling growing demand and success within the Atlantic Immigration Program.

Newfoundland And Labrador Draws In 2025

So far in 2025, the province has issued a total of 2,821 immigration invitations. Of these, 2,125 were under the NLPNP, while 696 were issued through the AIP.

Earlier this year, Newfoundland and Labrador received 1,050 nomination spaces for the NLPNP. After discussions with the federal government, the province was granted an additional 1,000 slots, bringing its total 2025 allocation to 2,050, compared to 2,100 in 2024.

Meanwhile, the AIP continues to operate with 475 available spaces, which have been maintained at the same level as last year.

About The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a key pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers and international graduates in Canada’s four Atlantic provinces — Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Have a valid job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces.
  • Have their job offer endorsed by the province.
  • Meet the required work experience or recent graduate criteria.

Once endorsed, candidates can apply directly to the federal government for permanent residence.

AIP applicants can also receive a temporary work permit valid for up to two years, allowing them to start working in Canada while their PR application is processed.

About The Newfoundland And Labrador PNP (NLPNP)

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) allows the province to nominate foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for permanent residence.

It offers five streams:

  1. Skilled Worker – Express Entry Skilled Worker Category
  2. Skilled Worker Category
  3. International Graduate Category
  4. International Entrepreneur Category
  5. International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

The PNP process involves two key steps:

  1. Candidates apply to the province and receive a provincial nomination.
  2. After nomination, they submit a PR application to the federal government.

Through programs like the NLPNP and AIP, Newfoundland and Labrador continues to strengthen its economy and attract global talent, contributing to the growth and diversity of Atlantic Canada’s workforce.
