What Happens Next For Invited Candidates?

Applicants who received invitations must submit a complete application for provincial nomination to the OINP.

Once approved, nominees gain access to an additional 600 points in the federal Express Entry system, significantly boosting their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Ontario’s PNP Activity In 2025

The September 3 draws follow a busy period for Ontario immigration. Just a day earlier, on September 2, the OINP issued 2,643 invitations across three separate draws focused on healthcare-related occupations.

This means that within the first week of September alone, Ontario issued 4,536 invitations to skilled workers.

However, Ontario is also managing its PNP allocation carefully this year. Earlier in 2025, the federal government reduced Ontario’s nomination allocation from 21,500 spots in 2024 to 10,750 spots in 2025.

Ontario’s New Employer-Led Application Process

Ontario also introduced a new step in July 2025 that changed how Employer Job Offer applications are handled. On July 2, the province launched a new employer portal, shifting the application process from being candidate-led to employer-led.

Now, employers must submit job offer details directly through the portal before candidates can register an Expression of Interest (EOI).

This means that only candidates whose employers initiated applications through the portal after July 2 were considered in the September 3 draws. Those who created EOIs before the change must work with their employers to resubmit their profiles through the new system.
