Ontario sends out ITAs in the first immigration draws of 2026, i.e., the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted its first set of immigration draws for 2026 on February 2. On this day, the province held six separate draws and issued a total of 1,825 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination.

Explanation Of The REDI Pilot And Its Role In OINP

The Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot is an Ontario program created to support employers in smaller, rural, and northern communities. Its goal is to help these areas hire skilled workers when local workers are not available.

REDI is not a separate immigration stream. Instead, it works within Ontario’s existing Employer: Job Offer streams. Candidates must already qualify for one of these streams and must also have a full-time job offer in a designated REDI region.

The eligible regions under the pilot are Lanark County, Leeds and Grenville, Sarnia-Lambton, and Thunder Bay. There are no extra application steps for REDI. Eligible candidates may be selected directly through targeted OINP draws.

Next Steps For Invited Candidates

Candidates who received an ITA must submit a complete application to the OINP within 60 days, following all program rules and document requirements.

After receiving a provincial nomination from Ontario, successful applicants can then apply to the federal government of Canada for permanent residence (PR).
